Calcium during pregnancy
It is very
important to increase your calcium intake during pregnancy and your doctor or
midwife may recommend calcium supplements, such as OsCal® or over the counter sources such as TUMS® or Viactiv. The reason it is so
important to increase your calcium intake is that your baby is using much of
the calcium in your body to create their bones and make them strong. If you do not increase calcium in your diet,
there is a risk that you will lose some of your bone density because the
calcium and minerals in your bones is going to your newborn.
