Thirty Five Weeks Pregnant

Fetus in the 35th week of pregnancy

At 35 weeks pregnant, your baby is the size of a Canary Melon. He weights about 5.5 pounds and is about 19 inches long. The next few weeks you baby will gain an ounce a day. The majority of your babies growth is now fat. He is getting ready for a smooth ride down the birth canal. The part that surrounds your baby brain will remain soft for an easy squeeze trough the birth canal. By this time, most babies are positioned with their head down towards your cervix ready for their journey south. With less room in your uterus, your baby's kicks have converted to rolls.

If you were experiencing shortness of breath, it should be improving as your baby is moving further down. You might also experience an increase Braxton Hicks Contractions. This is the tightening of your uterus for a couple minutes. Some women experience pain and some don't. Both are normal and not to worry about. You are most likely uncomfortable in your normal sleeping position, don't be afraid to experiment and sleep with a body pillow if you haven't already or in a part sitting up position. Even though it is pretty tight in your uterus and your baby may not be moving as frequently, you should still monitor this. About ten times an hour is about the times he should be moving. If he is not, chances are that everything is still ok but still better to notify your doctor.
